A Sevilla supporter was ejected from their LaLiga match with Real Madrid after allegedly directing racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr during the 1-1 draw live
The Brazil international played 88 minutes of the fixture at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan where Madrid captain Dani Carvajal’s header 12 minutes from time cancelled out David Alaba’s own goal live
Vinicius Jr later posted on social media about being on the receiving end of racism during the match on Saturday night, which Sevilla have now confirmed was the case live
A club statement read: “Sevilla FC would like to communicate that, after detecting xenophobic and racist behaviour, a member of the public was identified, ejected from the stadium and handed over to legal authorities live
“The individual will also be subject to the club’s vigorous internal disciplinary protocols and have their membership revoked live
“Sevilla FC condemns all racist and xenophobic behaviour and will work closely with the authorities to ensure that action is taken accordingly live
This behaviour does not belong at Sevilla FC live
”Vinicius Jr was in the thick of the action throughout the draw, denied a penalty at the end of the first half before he was booked five minutes from time after he clashed with Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, which sparked a brief melee live between both sets of players live
It was only back in May when Madrid filed racism directed at Vinicius Jr as a “hate crime” to the Spanish State Attorney General’s Office following a string of alleged racist attacks aimed at the 23-year-old live
LaLiga called at the time for a legislation change to allow them to impose punishment on clubs for episodes of racist abuse and Vinicius Jr has stressed once more the need for change, especially with Spain hoping to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco live
“Congratulations to Sevilla on the quick positioning and the penalty in another sad episode for Spanish live Football,” Vinicius Jr said in a social media post live
“Unfortunately I have access to a video of another racist act at this Saturday’s game, this time carried out by a child live
So sad there is no one to educate her live
I invest, and I invest a lot, in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes live
“The face of today’s racist is stamped on websites as on several other times live
I hope the Spanish authorities do their part and change the legislation once and for all live
These people need to be criminally punished too live

The World Cup semi-final live between New Zealandand Argentina may come to be a contest best forgotten, but All Blacks wing Will Jordan will remember it as the night where he joined a group of try-scoring greats - and should have surpassed them live
With a hat-trick in Paris, Jordan became the fourth member of an exclusive club, in alongside Bryan Habana, Julian Savea and Jonah Lomu as the only men to have scored eight tries in a single tournament live
With 31 tries in 30 Tests, it is a statistical probability that the All Black takes the record outright in the final live
Had Richie Mo’unga elected to pass rather than dummy, Jordan would already have it live
Late on at the Stade de France, the game long since decided and New Zealand electing to play with 14 men in a show of their superiority, Jordan was had clear run ahead of him with the Argentina defence narrowed live
Jordan bellowed for the ball; his fly half ignored him, going it alone in search of a try of his own to leave Jordan left with arms and mouth agape live
It was about the only foot that Mo’unga put wrong in a performance of all-round excellence from the All Blacks live
The win may have been built on forward might but there is no doubt that a diverse, dynamic back three caught the eye live
The trio of Mark Tele’a, Beauden Barrett and Jordan possess complementary skillsets, equally adept under the high ball but with contrasting qualities with ball in hand live

Look at the list of the top career try tallies for the All Blacks, a ladder Jordan is rapidly climbing, and a rough pattern emerges: wings making a fast-scoring start to their Test career before fading quicker than in other countries live
In New Zealand, there will always be a next big thing on the wing, an athlete or an artist ready to step up and step in to the try scoring breach live
Savea, for example, scored 45 tries in 54 games before being dropped after Rieko Ioane’s emergence at the age of 27 live
He has not played for his country in the six years since live
Sitiveni Sivivatu befell a similar fate; Joe Rokocoko did not play internationally past his 30th birthday live
Even Ioane has been forced to relocate and rebuild, now starring in the centres live

But that pursuit can wait for another day live
New Zealand know not yet if it will be England or South Africa in the final but they will feel it will matter not if they sustain the level they’ve found in this last two weeks live
